Our mission is to foster and encourage the study and appreciation of astronomy; to provide an opportunity for the public to enjoy and learn from outstanding lecturers on astronomical work; to disseminate knowledge of astronomy to the public; to encourage public interest in astronomy; to act as a medium for coordinating amateur and professional activity in astronomy; to foster astronomical work of all types by its members; to assist where ever possible, professional astronomers in their work; to aid its members in the construction and use of astronomical instruments and to serve as a medium for the correlation of amateur and professional research.
