LeMoyne College
On Thursday evening (10/17) the Syracuse Astronomical Society will kick off their off-season meeting schedule with a General Membership meeting from 6:30-7:30 PM on the campus of Lemoyne College. This particular date and time coincides with 3 phenomena…a rare clear night in CNY, the Comet Tsuchinshan Atlas C/2023 A3 at its brightest phase, and the last SuperMoon in 2024.
Normally, we would meet inside the SCA building, but on Thursday, we’re holding the hour-long General Meeting OUTDOORS at the Science Buildings end (NW corner) of the quad, where we’ll have a better WSW view of the comet. We’ll have at least one EAA telescope rigged up with cameras and a large monitor for 10-20 people to watch. We’ll discuss the comet, The Moon and whatever else that’s interesting in the skies over Lemoyne.
Be prompt, the comet will set shortly after sunset. In case you haven’t noticed, summer is over. Bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves! Park in Lot C, off Springfield Rd., about 100 yards away
Board of Directors Meeting: (see attached agenda)
Later, at 8:30 PM, we’ll hold our monthly Board of Directors meeting via zoom-only, using the link below. Students and SAS members are welcome to attend that meeting, too, where it’s warmer…via Zoom.
AP Group Meeting:
Please Note: The AP Group Meeting scheduled for 10/17 at 7:30 has been cancelled.
