December Membership meeting.

Elections – 6:30-8:30 PM Thursday, 12/19
SAS will hold elections for approximately half of its Board of Directors, and half of the officers of our club.  According to our bylaws, the General Membership elects the board members, and the board members elect its officers.  Mike Brady is retiring from the board and Jessica Leuschner has accepted her nomination as a candidate, having been vetted by the board, to fill the open position.  This year, the following board members have accepted their candidacy for election to a(nother) two-year term .  Elections will be held in-person by paper ballots only.  No electronic or online voting this year.

Jeff Higgins, for returning board member
John Rush, for returning board member
Tony Krishock, for returning board member
Jessica Leuschner, for new board member

On a separate ballot, the members of the board of directors will (re)elect the following board members to be officers of SAS.

Tony Krishock, for President (unopposed)
Ray Dague, for Observatory Director (unopposed)

Planning Session Meeting – 6:30-7:30 PM Thursday, 12/19
While the voting occurs, board members and any current member of our club are invited to attend a planning session to plan our future, assume typical club roles/responsibilities in 2025, and volunteer for events next year.  Tony K plans to present his “State of the Society” speech.  Please bring a list of priorities, ideas for improvement, future programs that you feel will best meet the immediate and longer term goals of SAS.  Present your thoughts in a few sentences and we’ll discuss their merits and feasibility.  The goals of this meeting are to:
  • Review/revise our SAS Mission Statement
  • Agree on some good ways to promote that mission in the near-term and long-term.
  • Identify some specific programs and events for 2025, which should move SAS in that direction.

All Board Members REALLY need to attend this meeting.  Attendees will be asked to select which responsibilities/roles they would care to assume in 2025.  This new idea will serve to distribute the load of on-going duties, in order to maintain and improve the club.  Absentees may be assigned the left-over duties.

This meeting will be held in-person and it will not be “Zoomed”.  If you cannot attend, you may email your list of priorities, ideas and supporting statements to me prior to the meeting, and I will read them verbatim to the attendees.

Board of Directors Meeting – 7:30-8:30 PM Thursday, 12/19
Board members and current members are invited to attend this meeting.  While voting occurs, the board will also conduct its monthly business meeting.  Please send your agenda items to me before 12/15.  A tentative meeting agenda will be emailed on 12/16  This meeting will be conducted in-person only.  It will not be “Zoomed”.
