June Public Observing Moved to Saturday June 29th

Tomorrow night has a better chance of clear skies than tonight, so we’re going to postpone our board meeting and public observing until tomorrow night. Join us for public observing from 9 to 11:45 at Darling Hill Observatory Saturday, June 29th.  See you there! http://www.cleardarksky.com/c/DarlinObsNYkey.html   / https://goo.gl/maps/jFM19dpNBqVXYRhj9

Tonight is “Moon Night” at DHO 8-10 PM. Members and Non-Members are Invited!

All members and future members, The rain will end by noon, the cold front will pass. It will be cold and a little windy, but you will probably see the half-moon as you’ve never seen it before…during the day and at night. Bring your smartphone to capture images if you’d like to show your friends what you saw at DHO. I will be testing our new phone adapters with the Cave. I’ll need someone to help open the roof at 8 PM. Since it’s a school/work night, I plan to close the roof and building at 10 PM, but […]

Public Observing Friday 5/31/19 at DHO!

We are GO for Public Observing tomorrow night, Friday, May 31st starting at 9:00 PM and going to 11:45!  According to my three favorite sky cover predictors (www.wunderground.com, forecast.weather.gov, and www.cleardarksky.com), there is a good chance there will be a big hole in the gray blanket that protects CNY most nights.  I plan to arrive around 7:00 PM to finish cleaning up and unboxing the books in the observatory.  Members are welcome to stop by any time of course.  Non-members may show up starting at 9:00 PM.  With a little luck, we’ll be using the Nexus II system to find Deep Space Objects well […]

May Public Observing is On!

Is there a Board meeting tonight? Yes! At DHO! At 7:00 PM! Be there! Is there Public Observing tonight? Yes! At DHO! 8:00 PM to 11:45 PM! Will we actually be looking at stuff through telescopes? It looks kind of cloudy in (fill in the blank East Coast town). Maybe! If stuff outside our atmosphere is visible and it’s not raining we’ll try to look at it! What will we do if we don’t look through telescopes? Members of SAS will be on hand to give tours of our newly upgraded 16″ f/6 Cave telescope and observatory, and answer any […]
