The really appealing thing about EAA to me is that it gives the visual observer what they’ve always craved.. it offers just a little more of that elusive detail that turns a “grey fuzzy blob” into something that looks more like an astronomical object. That has the ability to capture peoples’ imaginations in a way that the usual visual techniques simply cannot do. It doesn’t require a lot of post processing, it can produce a satisfying image while you wait, and, at the end of the night, you can bag a dozen very good quality images in the time it would take an astrophotographer months to capture. There’s just no comparison.
